I imagine this illness
is currently incurable

I imagine researchers busily
working together like ants
building a bridge over a crevasse

I imagine the millions
with this disease trying
every possible remedy
until word spreads of the elixir
that consistently heals

I imagine the reunion
where we talk and laugh,
and maybe even dance,
late into the night,

as we recall with awe
our perseverance during
all those days and nights
when we were once ill
